Welfare & Safeguarding

at Enfield Chasers

Our commitment

Enfield Chasers is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for everyone who takes part in club activities.

We believe that athletics should be enjoyable, respectful and free from harm. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we take concerns about welfare, safety and behaviour seriously.

Our approach follows England Athletics safeguarding guidance and applies to all members, coaches, volunteers and officials, as well as anyone involved in club activities.

Who this applies to

Our safeguarding and welfare responsibilities cover:

  • Adults at risk

  • All club members, coaches, volunteers and officials

  • All club activities, including training, competition, social events and online spaces

What we mean by safeguarding and welfare

Safeguarding and welfare concerns can take many forms. These may include:

  • Concerns about the safety or wellbeing of someone at risk

  • Behaviour that makes someone feel unsafe, uncomfortable or intimidated

  • Bullying, harassment or discrimination

  • Inappropriate conduct, whether in person or online

  • Situations that do not feel right, even if you are unsure why

You do not need proof or certainty to raise a concern. If something worries you, it is better to share it.

Speaking up

We want everyone at Enfield Chasers to feel able to speak up.

If you experience something concerning, or witness behaviour that worries you, you can raise it in confidence. Concerns can be reported whether they relate to you or to someone else.

All reports are handled sensitively and in line with England Athletics guidance. Information is only shared with those who need to know in order to keep people safe.

Report a concern

If you have a safeguarding, welfare or conduct concern, you can report it using our online form.

  • You can submit a report anonymously

  • You do not need to be certain that harm has occurred

  • The form is reviewed by the club’s Welfare Officer

When to act urgently

If you believe someone is in immediate danger, or a child or adult at risk is at serious risk of harm, do not wait. Contact the emergency services immediately.
